About Mike Windle

After studying and researching geology and a few years working as an Archaeologist, I branched out into Geonconservation. I started by setting up Oxfordshire Geology Trust and then about 13 years ago moved to Robin Hood's Bay and set up North East Yorkshire Geology Trust. Our aim is to protect and share Geodiversity, but as the Trust receives no public funding my main responsibilities also include fundraising and project management as well as conservation. So far I've managed to raise about £2M for more than 40 projects, reaching about 250,000 people. My project work covers the management of volunteers, countless public events, heritage interpretation, training interns, staff and volunteers, working with partner organisations like Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Hanson, Cemex, Lafarge, Durham and Royal Holloway Universities, Natural England and York Potash.Conservation and the natural world is at the heart of everything I do, its an interesting and changeable career, the latest thing being GEONAUTS, a unique concept to help young people explore and learn about their planet. We're hoping for big things from GEONAUTS and have plans underway to carry out research that will support its introduction into UK schools, fingers crossed!

Listed skills include Fundraising, Geoconservation, Project Planning, Program Development, and 17 others.
