For many years, I was focused on growing my career through retail management. I enjoyed that this work gave me the opportunity to develop relationships with and serve customers, coach new hires, and develop, set, and achieve goals. For many years, this was fulfilling, and although I truly was thankful for the growth and professional development that my time at Walgreens provided, I could feel my interests shifting. I realized that over the years, I had developed a passion for integrating technology, beyond what was able to be fulfilled through my current career path, and I started to explore new opportunities. I found that I was most drawn to web development, and I began soaking up as much knowledge as possible on my own. I started coding tutorials on codecademy.com and teamtreehouse.com, read books associated with programming, and followed tutorials on YouTube to deepen my knowledge. My drive and interest in web and application development inspired me to enroll in classes at Stark State College and begin my journey to achieve an associate degree in Web Development. I’m excited at the opportunity to combine my knowledge of people with technology in new and innovative ways, and have a future where I can work on larger scale projects within both team and individual environments. I know my work ethic and experience as well as my transferrable skills and education make me a unique candidate as I seek my first opportunity in this new career path, and I look forward to continuing to learn while contributing to a shared vision of purpose and production.
