Founding Member of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Juvenile Justice Strategy Group’s (JJSG) Youth Advisory Council. Works in partnership with the JJSG to inform and strengthen their site-based reform efforts with state and local juvenile justice systems, while supporting the development of Council members as emerging leaders in juvenile justice.As a cohort of 14 council members, we work together to develop recommendations that inform and strengthen the JJSG work. We also participate in professional development activities and email discussions, review materials, draft and edit reports/presentations, and conduct field research.

Provide technical assistance to help support CJJR efforts to improve the Youth and Family Engagement aspect of their Crossover Youth Practice Model.The Crossover youth Practice Model was developed to address the unique needs of youth that fluctuate between and are known to the child welfare and juvenile justice system. These youth are commonly referred to as “crossover youth”.The Crossover Youth Practice Model focuses on reduction in the number of youth crossing over and becoming dually-involved; reduction in the number of youth placed in out of home care; reduction in the use of congregate care; and reduction in the disproportionate representation of youth of color, particularly in the crossover population.The Center for Juvenile Justice Reform provides substantial on-site technical assistance to 88 counties in 20 states who have implemented the model. In implementing the model jurisdictions will strengthen their organizational structure and implement or improve practices that directly affect the outcomes for crossover youth.

The JJDP State Advisory Group currently consists of a 15-33 member panel of persons from across the State who have training, experience, or special knowledge of the juvenile justice system. SAG members are appointed by the Governor and are responsible for the administration and management of federally allocated funds.As a youth member I: - Gather input from system-involved youth and families and make recommendations- Conduct surveys or focus groups with young people in detention facilities and gather information from at-risk youth involved in prevention programs.- Strategize for ways to promote and sustain youth membership on the SAG- Lead in organizing efforts to achieve the aforementioned goals- Report results by providing updates to the wider SAG committee at meetings

Analyze existing programs and functions of the permitting department using Lean Six Sigma and Project Management Professional methodologies of statistical analysis measuring productivity, efficiency, and waste. Also, assist the management team in designing, training, and implementing new improvement processes, strategies, and programs to assist in these endeavors.In addition, review, update, and assign occupancy and construction permit applications.
