Founded in Haiti by a group of 4 volunteers, Triomi is a company devoted to the innovation of inexpensive medical technologies that will leverage mobile platforms to transform healthcare delivery.

I came in on short notice to manage all IT, networking, and communications operations at Project Medishare/Bernard Mevs hospital, the most advanced hospital in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. My job on paper was to administer the hospital's network, ensure the integrity of the hospital's communicational infrastructure, and to manage a team of two additional employees. My job on paper was to administer the hospital's network, ensure the integrity of the hospital's communicational infrastructure, and to manage a team of two additional employees. However, due to the extraordinary nature of the austere environment surrounding this operation, I was forced to quickly and significantly adjust to the environment, and expand the scope of my duties beyond what I expected. I added new technologies, such as wireless mesh networking for a mobile telemedicine robot, and performed exploratory testing for novel technologies to add to the hospital in the future, such as the OpenMRS EMR and SanaMobile telemedicine platform. I went to neighboring hospitals, such as JP/HRO, to help make technological repairs after inclement weather had caused structural damage to their field and tent operations. I assisted other physicians and hospital administrators in sending radiological studies to colleagues for further comment, and jury-rigged solutions when none were available. I repaired and maintained medical devices and biomedical equipment, such as the hospital's electrocardiograph and x-ray machine; upon fixing the ECG, I began making myself available to be on call in the middle of the night to fix it again when it broke.This remains one of the most profoundly transformative experiences in my life to date. I was one of two teaching assistants for Dr. Stephen Murrell's series of courses on the C++ programming language. While working at the University, I taught an introductory C++ lab of 30 students, and evaluated and graded student C++ assignments and tests for C++ classes of both introductory and advanced levels. I also regularly met with students outside of class to provide tutoring on the material, although I'm not entirely sure that was part of my job description at the time.
