I have extensive professional experience in the research and development of novel drugs and offer considerable knowledge of the drug development process from early stage concepts and preliminary screening through to regulatory safety studies required to initiate clinical trials. My breadth of experience comes from a solid research base (PhD, Nottingham University and post-doctoral research in New Jersey, USA), coupled with considerable experience of research project management, collaborations management and preclinical development leadership. I have overseen the progression of several novel compounds from early stage research successfully through to clinical trial testing. Notably, I discovered trofinetide was efficacious in autism-spectrum disorders, and led the preclinical development of this novel drug, which was approved by the FDA in 2023.
