I am an experienced software development professional with extensive experience building highly scalable, distributed platform solutions. Though my passion lies in hands-on software design and implementation, I have significant previous background in organizational and project management that I feel provides a comprehensive skill set not often found in software engineers. My core software engineering focus has been in architecting and implementing application platforms using:- cloud infrastructure (particularly AWS) + infrastructure as code- a variety of data store types - NoSQL, SQL, Elasticsearch, Graph databases, etc.- service-oriented architectures, biased towards 12 factor approach- stream and queue based event workflows- leading infrastructure and DevOps tooling I strive to be a well-rounded engineer that is comfortable working across all application layers and across the full business lifecycle of an application from inception to operation. I strongly believe that software quality is critical to delivering applications that delight end users as well as the technical team developing and operating the software. Most recently, I have been working with the following technologies:- Data stores - MongoDB, Postgres / AWS Redshift- Runtime environments - Kubernetes / AWS EKS, AWS Elastic Beanstalk- Javascript (Node.js, React, ECMA 2018+) as primary language with some Python- Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Terragrunt- DevOps and CI/CD - Github Actions, Helm, ArgoCD- AWS Networking - VPC, Transit Gateway- 3rd party IaaS and monitoring offerings - Cloudflare, Atlas, Sentry, LogzioPast experience includes:- DynamoDB, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, Memcached, Redis, MySQL, Infobright- AWS Lambda, Lambda@Edge, API Gateway, Step Functions- AWS CloudFormation, Service Catalog, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudWatch- Application performance monitoring - DataDog, New Relic- Java, Scala, PHP

Principal EngineerBison Technologies Jan 2023 - Jan 2024Oklahoma City, Ok, UsPrincipal engineer focused on decomposition of monolithic architecture into domain-bound service APIs on serverless architecture. Key achievements in this role include:- Led design and implementation of authentication/authorization service domain for use across all applications to allow JWT-based authentication with RBAC & ABAC authorization based on Cedar policy language- Evangelized adoption of serveless development approach via presentations, office hours, paired development, and introduction of common libraries and tooling- Established design pattern and led implementation for serverless GraphQL facade for existing RESTful API’s. This allowed for team flexibility in decomposing monolithic UI applications.- Implemented test frameworks for application areas for which standard test tooling was not available - authorization policy testing, AWS AppSync JS runtime testing- Championed design review and meaningful code review across all engineering teams. Helped increase design review frequency from roughly monthly to daily cadence. -
