Mike Britton is a community advocate in his hometown of St. Catharines who is always trying to make his city, and his Region of Niagara, better.Mike graduated from the University of Western Ontario where he achieved a Bachelor of Science with a Double Major in Medical Science and Classical Studies during which he was actively engaged in many leadership and volunteer roles around helping first year students transition into university life.After university, in 2014, Mike was elected as the youngest St. Catharines City Councillor in history at the age of 24. During this term, he worked tirelessly to listen and build strong relationships with individual residents, businesses, and community groups. He also served as the Chair of the Economic Sustainability Committee; Vice-Chair of the Budget Committee; represented St Catharines on the Niagara District Airport Commission and the Niagara Region Transportation Steering Committee. He was known for attending as many charity fundraisers, business openings, and other events across the city as possible to be an ambassador of City Hall and easily accessible to all residents.Outside of politics, Mike operated a Niagara property management business which oversaw buildings from Fort Erie to St Catharines. In 2020, Mike moved into the realm of digital media as an Associate Producer and Guest Relations Manager of a new national cable tv news show called ‘Canadian Justice’. With the responsibility of guiding the editorial content of the series, Mike used this media opportunity to highlight issues of injustice across Canada and help find solutions to fix them.Mike serves on many local boards including Crime Stoppers of Niagara, Links for Greener Learning (LGL), The Facer District Merchants and Residents Association (FDMRA), the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, and the Royal Canadian Naval Association of Niagara. He is also a Government of Ontario appointee to the Ontario Trillium Foundation's Niagara Grant Review Team.He also is a member of the St. Catharines Rotary Club, Junior Chamber International (JCI) St. Catharines, United Way Niagara’s GenNext Cabinet, and is a regular volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Niagara’s salvage team.Mike challenges everyone to join him in giving your time, treasure, and talent to help make our Niagara community an incredible place to live, work, and play.
