Senior Communications Manager
CurrentSenior public information officer in APL's Communications Department. Conduct strategic, national and international public and media relations for the nation's largest university affiliated research center; major efforts include the NASA-sponsored New Horizons mission to Pluto, Dragonfly mission to Saturn's moon Titan and the Parker Solar Probe mission to "touch the Sun." Set editorial direction for the Lab’s intranet news pages and twice-weekly internal newsletter, the APL News Wire. Serve as Lab spokesperson and crisis communications/emergency communications lead on the APL Incident Command System team. Write and edit strategic communications and marketing materials such as the APL Annual Report, internal and external websites, fact sheets, brochures and multimedia presentations. Write and host APL-produced news and video feature programs, such as the live New Horizons Pluto and Beyond Pluto encounter series and news conferences on NASA TV and social media channels. Organize and actively participate in STEM educational and public outreach programs such as "Space Academy" and school visits/talks. Have also sharpened my leadership and coaching skills as a supervisor at group and section levels.
