Working in the online advertising department, my responsibilities are themed around designing, developing and managing applications projects specifically for our clients and to also support their online advertising campaigns. Key duties include the following:• Developing bespoke solutions (PHP, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, API interaction, AJAX, MySql, SQL Server, SQLite).• Web development projects - managing and executing all stages of the process, including implementation and build. Previous work has included developing affiliate white-label microsites (implementing SEO best practices).• Creative design, including the build of small basic ads for clients (Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, ActionScript). This has also included building ads to plug-in client website search functionality. • Client website usability projects – for example, making recommendations for improvement to improve user traffic flow, and designing landing pages to run on PPC/display with the aim to improve conversion efficiency.• Working with multiple tracking and ad serving technologies (Client setup, trafficking, rich media troubleshooting)• Technical management of client marketing on shopping comparison / affiliate channels. Duties include:o Liaising with the client to create XML product feeds, or creating a script to automatically create this from site content on their behalfo Setup of product-level conversion trackingo Setup of automated reports for campaign planning team to aid optimisation.

For the first six months of the position, I worked for MSN Global Sales & Marketing headquarters, developing internal communications distributed amongst the 1,000+ employees. Through doing so, I enhanced their communications strategy for the fiscal year by establishing a range of materials that effectively vocalised key messaging to the organisation. This included developing the web portal intranet site available to all Microsoft staff and creating graphical solutions in a variety of formats (e-mails, newsletters, intranet, presentations, event literature). From January 2006 I joined my manager to assist the formation of a new department in MSN/Windows Live which focuses on corporate social responsibility. This initially required an extensive research & analysis project on a number of topics, particularly internet safety and security. Other duties included event planning for internal conferences and summits, and project management of various online safety/promotional initiatives.My full-time position at Microsoft drew to a close in September 2006 when I returned to University for my final year of study. However I was asked to stay with the company on a part-time basis until the following summer, working as a project manager on Internet Safety initiatives.
