NOT JUST ANOTHER MIKEFirst off, I lost my first name as a kid...when a class of 38 kids has four Mikes, there are NO Mikes—everybody ends up being referred to by their last names. So, just Coop.About 15 years ago, I made the decision to go out on my own. I’d been part of some huge successes and a couple of failures, and decided that the best place to put my broad and diverse skillset to work would be as an independent consultant, with a focus in the energy and sustainability sector. With a background in marketing, business development, and sales, there were plenty of opportunities to contribute to making the world a better place.Over the course of time, I realized that the consultant’s lifestyle can be a very solitary environment, working by myself in a head-down manner to execute on a given set of deliverables. In 2018, I decided to do a reset, and had the opportunity to lead the Chicago Cubs’ summer camp for kids, which was COMPLETELY invigorating—having the chance to be a role model for 900 kids was insanely satisfying. That led to the decision to focus on being a stay-at-home dad for awhile, and then Covid hit. Now, after five-plus years of wearing the Dad hat full-time, I’m fully energized to get back to what I do best—inspiring, motivating, evangelizing, mentoring, empowering. Leading. Collaborating. Transforming. Serving. Growing every day, consistently and authentically.
