Hi! My name is Mike and I’m addicted to CrossFit. We’re all friends here so let’s be honest... a friend invited me to Double Diamond a few years back and I figured it would be fun and easy since I was “in shape” from running and the traditional gym. I was half right as my first workout (a set of 1 minute assessments and then Fran) proved. The coming workouts were a struggle, but I kept coming back thanks to the great group of people who would always share an encouraging word, and spent a lot of time sharing the fundamentals of CrossFit. In the following weeks I started to feel better, see results, and slowly “buy in” more and more to this new lifestyle.I’ve been coaching middle and high school track for 9 years and love passing along knowledge to people who want to learn something new or improve themselves. My favorite CrossFit movements tend to be ones a lot of people dislike... burpees, pullups, double unders, muscleups, overhead squats, and the list goes on. I’m always up for a friendly competition or spending extra time at the gym teaching anything people want to learn!If I had to pick one favorite thing about CrossFit it would be that it allows me to live life to the fullest. I don’t have to turn down opportunities because I’m “not in shape” for them. Want to run a near-vertical trail at 6am tomorrow? Sounds good. Ski blacks in Whistler next week? Let’s go. Need an extra person for your 188 mile team relay next month? Sign me up.Thanks to CrossFit things that were once improbable became obtainable.
