I currently serve as the executive vice president for the Missouri Cattlemen's Association (MCA) based in Columbia, Mo. MCA is the oldest and largest state organization solely representing Missouri's cattlemen and cattlewomen. Before moving back to Missouri, I served as the director of communications for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association in Washington, D.C. I specialized in communications and grassroots advocacy. Formerly, I was the head of communications for the U.S. Grains Council, a Washington, D.C. based non-profit organization building profitability for U.S. farmers by expanding market opportunities outside the borders of the United States. After leaving my hometown of 5,000 in Missouri, I pursued completion of my education in Missouri, Oklahoma and Thailand. I then moved to Denver where I served as the editor of the nation's largest livestock publication. Washington, D.C. was my next adventure. Through my educational experience, I served as a broadcaster, print reporter and also assisted in the development of the Missouri Association of Publications. My research experience consists of three primary studies: Identifying Core Competencies in Agricultural Broadcasting Curriculum; Agricultural Literacy: Where we have been the last 12 years; and initiated and assisted in published research identifying consumer perceptions on animal welfare.
