As on-campus support for students, I work with matters relating to the welfare and discipline of students in halls of residence. This is part of a team delivering 24/7 support. To help us achieve this level of support, we oversee the work of Student Services Residents, who are in the latter stages of their degrees, and provide a wealth of knowledge for new students.

The First-Generation Scholars Scheme is an award-winning initiative to improve social mobility and provides students with work and study opportunities to help build a successful career after graduating. The University had over 5,000 eligible students, and my main responsibilities to them were:• Managed the funded work and study programme, including internships in the UK and overseas, work shadowing, summer schools, and research placements• Provided general support to First-Generation Scholars, acting as a main point of contact, and organised bespoke events and activities as required• Supervised the team administrator to ensure all activities and programmes ran effectively• Developed relationships with organisations to provide work experience opportunities• Reviewed the First-Generation Scholars Scheme and activities to make sure demands were met in order to provide the best possible experience to students
