Sansbury Bailey – an international group consisting of several farming and food production companies, supplying Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys and other major retailers with fresh produce.I was Head of IT reporting directly into the Board, and developed a 3 year strategy which included moving all on-premise systems to the cloud. I was solely responsible for the IT Budget of £1.2M per annum. I was able to quickly implement a data-governance framework leading to GDPR compliance and Cyber-Essentials accreditation. I also developed a series of quick wins to improve service and efficiency, including: Led the procurement of a new Finance System (MS Dynamics NAV) Implemented an IT Helpdesk, including ITIL principles and procedures Conducted a complete review of IT provision and use within the first 3 weeks and produced a 3-year IT Strategy for the Board. Developed an IT Security Strategy, incorporating the Cyber-Essentials programme and leading to GDPR compliance by April 2018 Successfully led a project to implement Checkpoint Firewalls including the Spanish and Italian offices. Implemented and developed an Intranet using Sharepoint, and Sharepoint Designer Developed and implemented workflow to streamline core business processes Led a successful project to review the Head Office Infrastructure – resulting in an 80% improvement in the performance of the LAN. Led the successful overhaul of the group’s WAN.

In October 2015, I moved the ICT Consultancy from Capita Property & Infrastructure (CPI), into Capita Software Services (CSS). This was as the result of several collaborative projects with CSS that led me to believe that our service sat better in that part of the business, and that the two would complement each other. As a result of that move, my consultancy team merged with the CSS projects team. Member of the Board of Management – which oversees all aspects of the business including Sales, Account Management, Business Development and Finance – responsible for up to 45 projects at any one time with combined budgets in excess of £3.5M. These were software implementation projects, varying in size and complexity with the more complex lasting up to 2 years. Responsible for a team of 8 Project Managers and 28 Technical and Business consultants who implement Capita’s Housing Management solutions at our customers’ premises, UK wide – often as many as 45 projects at any one time, over a customer base of 200 Responsible for accuracy of monthly Forecast Revenue against Actuals, productivity and project commercials. Reintroduced and established project management methodology (Prince2) Created and developed a successful Business Transformation arm to the ICT consultancy – using LEAN Six-Sigma methodology to improve the way our clients use the software. Developed and ran two highly regarded NUDGE projects – using behavioural economics to change tenant behavior. The latest of these projects was based on Channel Shift – in order to encourage social housing tenants to perform transactions digitally online.

This allows us to offer a complete package to any Housing project.

Scunthorpe

Creating a new ISP and brand to deliver a ground-breaking 4G LTE wireless broadband service to Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire. I have developed the idea from concept, to market. Including the creation of a robust business plan and financial model, marketing strategy and new brand. I have also overseen the technical project to bring the service to market.

 Responsible to the Board for all ICT matters in the company – including hardware, software, policy, strategy, security and Data Protection. Successfully led a major 2 year end-to-end project to replace all the company’s key business systems with a new single integrated SQL-based ERP system (Aareon QLx) I was responsible for the full project lifecycle – this included the HR, Finance, Housing Management and repairs systems. The budget for this project was £1.2M for which I had overall responsibility. The project was delivered live, early and under budget. The new ERP system generated savings of £66k per annum, through increased efficiency, optimized processing and reduced support costs.  Member of the Senior Management Team – with significant input on strategic business planning and Service Improvement strategies. Performance Management to assist the business to meet its KPI targets and Objectives. This led to an 30% improvement in IT KPIs over a 12 month period. Responsible for recruiting and then running the entire ICT operation for North Lincolnshire Homes. Created and delivered the company’s 5 year ICT Strategy. Developed all the company’s ICT Policies, and implemented appropriate methods of working to ensure their effectiveness. Shortlisted in National Award for the IT Team of the Year - 2012 Proposed and then implemented a ground-breaking idea to create an Internet Service Provider using 4G LTE technology to provide Social Housing tenants with access to affordable cutting edge broadband. Created a brand and marketing strategy to sell the product to business and domestic customers at a market rate which would subsidise the “social” rate for tenants. Developed B2B sales and marketing skills, and successfully led the cultural change required for a Social Housing provider to engage in commercial activity, this involved influencing C-level executives, and presenting a credible business proposal to board.

I was commissioned into the RAF VR(T) in September 1992 and by July 1997 had been promoted to Flight Lieutenant to take command of a squadron. After only 3 years in command, I was again promoted (to Sqn Leader) and joined the Wing Staff Team - responsible for 7 squadrons, and also for the Adventure Training Programme for the whole Wing (25 squadrons). During the next eight years I served in a variety of posts, organising and commanding several major field exercises at various military training areas to develop tactical leadership, fieldcraft and teambuilding skills. I was also responsible for the creation and operation of the wing's officer selection and development programme. I was priveleged to serve the last three years of my commission as Deputy Officer Commanding the Wing. In January 2008, I retired my commission to move to Lincolnshire with my family.

Responsible for recruiting and then running a team of 4 Technical Support Staff. Responsible for all the company’s ICT hardware & network support. Set up and ran the company’s ICT Helpdesk, including developing policies & procedures, ensuring SLAs were met and customer satisfaction was a priority.Project Managed the IT move from 6 Council Offices into new HHT premises – including the move of the Head Office. This involved creating a new WAN and moving the company’s servers from the Council data-centre into our own purpose built server room in the new headquartersDesigned and implemented the company’s DR plan.Developed a highly effective, well-liked and respected support team, in a very short time.
