My ownership role in FeatherFace is to oversee the growth and development of the core business consisting of 3 pillars - Management Consulting Services, Management Bridging Services and Competition Research Services, hence the FeatherFace tagline CONSULT - MANAGE - RESEARCH. FeatherFace continue to serve old and new executives, of small and large entities, with strategic consulting services and providing a suite of Competitor Research, Analytics and Monitoring services in the areas of Digital Streaming, Financial Services and on the Electronic Media Industry in general.

This consulting assignment within the Strategy & Business Development Division of Multichoice involved the motivation and creation of a Product Management competency & forum spanning four separate but related businesses - each with their own highly competent and well developed product development teams already in place. My primary function was the management of a single product roadmap and product strategy for the Group and to provide strategic direction to cross-platform product developments; being Online, Mobile, Broadcast and Internet Services.Additionally the function prepares and manages the Customer Strategy and the Customer Experience turn-around programme of work that eminated from the strategy.

Focused on a start-up business within the Multichoice Group formed to deliver Mobile TV to major cities in seven African countries over a period of two years. This entailed the assessment of many; and motivation of selected countries to target for the service. Then the process of broadcast licence acquisition; local partnership negotiation and management; network build and finally the operational competency build and management of these services in Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Kenya, Ivory Coast and Tanzania.

We scoured the world looking to invest in Pay TV operations that would meet the Clients expansion ambitions. This entailed engaging with multi-country media and business specialists; the target businesses themselves, as well as managing a changing MIH group team on a number of country and media business analysis evaluations, assessments, and due diligence exercises. This work allowed me to make many friends and professional connections in the media and supporting industries in South America, Eastern Europe and Asia. Countries I visited often during this time include: Brazil, Argentina, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and South Korea. However research and analysis work extended to media business in most countries on the globe.

This small consulting firm allowed me to work on diverse Technology projects and as a bridging and turn-around IT Executive at some of the largest public entities in South Africa. Assignments as diverse as being the Project Manager to Nedbank, Liberty Life and the CSIR for their robotics data storage implementation projects, ADSL installation project management and IT development consulting to the then self-governing territories and many governmental institutions in South Africca via the Development Bank. The most memorable assignments must include being appointed on a two year turn-around IT Executive assignment for the South African Post Office through 2000 and, just prior to that, as the bridging IT Executive for the South African Revenue Service. This after serving as the Chief Information Technology consultant during the transformation of the old Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise Departments of Finance into the South African Revenue Service.
