I spent a year at the factory in Petone, Wellington. My main role was to produce technical drawings for the various aluminium products. Site visits and bespoke design was the most enjoyable, memorably the Wellington library and Majestic Centre.Left the company to move to Japan.

This was my first job out of polytechnic. I worked part time for a few months. Roger is a very well known and respected NZ architect, a great introduction to the world of design for me. As a junior there was a lot of measuring things, a small amount of drafting until thrown at the computer to use CAD, probably because I was the young lad. Now I'm designing computer networks, I wonder if this had any influence...
