About Mike Foo Che Bin

I've been working on embedded system for sometime now, and lately on deep learning. From baking PCB to fooling around with Linux Operating System. Software integration, debugging and troubleshooting are the regular dishes i ate. Occasionaly, i write codes too :). This journey is thrown at me years ago when I first profile an application back in my Motorola undergraduate internship @ Penang,Malaysia. Meaningful work and eternal optimism lead me to a roller coaster journey of system prototyping, startup, getting a master degree, working in A*STAR, and now getting a PhD in electrical engineering at IUPUI on machine/deep learning.Occasionally, I wondered off into the nether realm, just to see how reality can catch-on.

    As post startup hangover, i decided to go back and finish my master degree. Ended up working/researching on optimization with the intent to lower down energy usage without compromising occupant thermal comfort. The target is met almost perfectly if only computation time does not become the sore point. Also, a demo showcase is developed for HEMS(Home Energy Management System), but the technical relevance has no connection to the one mentioned above. The HEMS is completed for showing the benefit of having energy visualization and some simple automation in a house.
