Mike has 34 years of experience focusing on high-growth companies at PwC, including 22 years as a partner, providing accounting, financial reporting and consulting services, while based in PwC’s offices in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul and London. Mike is a Deals partner and has led PwC’s services around IPOs for many years. He founded PwC’s IPO services practice, and developed a comprehensive suite of services, from accounting and financial reporting, finance effectiveness, tax, internal controls, treasury, corporate governance, and executive compensation and HR, amongst others, that helps companies prepare for the transaction and for life as a public company. PwC’s IPO services help companies get to market faster, more efficiently and with fewer surprises.As a result of his extensive experience with IPOs, he frequently takes on the role of an “IPO Advisor” to help his clients both with their initial registration process, and also with the process of preparing to operate as a public company.Mike's specific technical knowledge focuses on accounting, financial reporting and project management advice associated with the SEC registration process, accounting for carve-outs, purchase accounting, pro forma financial statements, stock compensation, revenue recognition, segmental reporting, and private equity exit strategies. Mike also started PwC’s Capital Markets Advisor (CMA) business, to provide clients with independent and objective advice on capital structure, capital markets, and valuation issues critical to achieving corporate objectives and positioning the company for success.As a senior partner in the firm, Mike frequently takes on the Lead Client Partner role LCP for many of our largest and most important clients. In this role he is responsible for bringing all of PwC’s resources to serve our key clients and ensure they receive our highest quality services. During his career, Mike has worked on hundreds of IPOs and similar transactions, for both large, as well as IPOs of many smaller and mid-cap privately-held companies for private equity and other sponsors. In recent years many of these companies have gone public through a SPAC transaction. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and has written many articles and publications on the IPO process and how companies should prepare. He has worked across all industries, and more recently with an emphasis on fast growing technology, software, ecommerce, fintech and consumer goods companies.
