I first encountered conflict and violence working in law enforcement and decided to study and learn as much as I could about ►Personal safety in the workplace ► Conflict management & De-escalation skills► Lone worker & Traveller safety► Trauma-informed practices► Managing Workplace Violence & Aggression► Terrorist attack + Critical incident response► Trauma First Aid and Life-threatening Bleed ControlSkillsI worked and studied in the UK & USA with leading experts in these fields and developed growing expertise.In the early 1990's I helped to create the UK Department of Education & Skills award-winning Officer Safety Training programme for UK Policing. This collaboration was between legacy Strathclyde Police and the Metropolitan Police Service in 5 Area - South London.In 2006 I joined the Education sector, engaging with and supporting young people and families as part of the National Violence Reduction Unit's long-term programme to prevent violence, especially knife crime, using the WHO Public health approach. I set up Salvas in 2010 to train and support people and businesses in the Public, Private & Third sectors to safely manage conflict when dealing with irate and aggressive people.In 2016 the ongoing threat of Terrorist attacks saw me gather a multidisciplinary team from ◆Police - Specialist firearms ◆Counter-terrorism ◆Military ◆Medical ◆Security & Safety ◆Event Risk managementand we created the unique RunHideSurvive education programme and kit to help people learn how to respond and what to do when caught up in a terrorist or violent attack.
