The Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom. The Procurement Department is responsible for ensuring value-for-money for the Bank, compliance with the procurement policies and regulations, and managing third-party risk. As a Commercial Policy Manager, I was responsible for line-managing a Senior Commercial Policy Administrator, managing day-to-day tasks of the team, and leading and delivering discrete projects.

As a Commercial Policy Analyst, I was responsible for analysing and overseeing commercial policies, governance and controls, training, continuous improvement, and benchmarking. I advised and designed new (or improved existing) processes to drive and/or monitor compliance with commercial policies and regulations.

First Trenitalia West Coast Rail Limited is the owner of the West Coast Partnership Franchise. As part of the franchise, it operates the trains on the West Coast Main Line trading as Avanti West Coast, and is the shadow operator for the upcoming HS2 through West Coast Partnership Development. As a public affairs executive, I provided advice and input to deliver the company’s public affairs strategies including stakeholder engagement with Westminster, Parliament, and wider policy audiences.

The US Department of State is the federal executive department responsible for US foreign policy and international relations. As a procurement agent within the US Embassy in London, I was responsible for carrying out procurement activities on behalf of the mission in the UK. This required ensuring all procurement activities were compliant with Federal Acquisition Regulations and Department of State Acquisition Regulations. I was also required to work closely with the requesting office, suppliers, and the finance team to ensure procurement activities met the needs of the requester and delivered value for money.

Buckinghamshire County Council was the upper-tier local authority for the non-metropolitan county of Buckinghamshire. It was responsible for delivery of strategic public services including transport, education, social services, and strategic planning. As a policy officer at Buckinghamshire County Council, I was responsible for overseeing and coordinating various policy projects and assisted in Buckinghamshire County Council’s transition to a Unitary Authority for 1 April 2020.

The Ministry of Transport is the New Zealand Government’s principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment. It provides the Minister of Transport with specialist transport advice and support on those matters. It leads and coordinates the transport sector agencies to ensure they deliver on the government’s expectations and priorities. I was required to develop and apply policy frameworks and provide advice to the Minister of Transport on policy issues and problems. In particular, as a key member of the Investment Team, I was required to analyse funding implications and provide advice to the Minister on how the Government funds should be spent to achieve policy outcomes.

I was responsible for physical and mental wellbeing of 390 first-year students. This required adapting to new situations and using creativity to resolve a given issue, while adhering to strict rules and ethical guidelines.
