My IT background started, not entirely by design, back in 1999. A time pre mainstream email, the internet of things was more internet-of-nothing and companies were facing the perils of the millennium bug! Da-da-dah! Fast forward to today's crazy world of cloud computing, agile development, big data, GDPR and things look very different! There are two key moments of inspiration to me. In 1962 JFK delivered a speech along the lines of "We choose to go to the moon not because it easy but because it's hard". Now, I wasn't around in 1962 but when I saw this line during some reading it was one that stood out. It was something that I would keep at the forefront of my mind when making decisions no matter how big or small they are.The other was a book called the Yes Man by Danny Wallace. It's based on the simple premise of saying "Yes" to more things. Now obviously he took it to extremes and said "Yes" to everything which I wouldn't advocate. However saying "Yes" to more things is one small change that had a really positive impact on my life and career. So why am I telling you this? Well to put it another way these are my core values. Experience and embrace technology; don't be put off by a difficult challenge and remain positive.

Technical Project ManagerMwh Treatment Oct 2016 - Nov 2021Stockport, GbAs a technical project manager within the Stantec Constructors Group IT department I am focused on IT project delivery to the business, mainly focused around the IFS (ERP) application system. The most recent projects I have worked on:Audit (Sarbanes Oxley)Due to a company acquisition in 2017, MWH had to achieve SOX compliance. This involved reviewing our existing ITGC policies and procedures with three specific areas 1) Access Control 2) IT Operations 3) Change Management. Over a period of about ten months I worked closely with the technical leads in each area and our Internal Audit and External Audit teams during walkthroughs, interim testing and year-end testing. We successfully reviewed, improved and created policies and procedures within each of the in-scope audited controls. As the nominated POC for our auditors I was responsible for providing evidence when requested and answering further questions to ensure we achieved compliance. As well as a Project Manager I fulfil a Change Manager role for the companies ERP system. I am responsible for delivering changes in ITIL service managed frameworks and conforming to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) auditing standards. Changes with varying complexity and severity follow an approval process with the wider IT team. I liaise with the CAB to gain approval for scheduled changes, perform a monthly review of all changes, improving the change management process to ensure the continuation of SOX compliance. -
