As a long term technology and operations executive – who has worked in dynamic and fast-moving settings – I keep my edge by staying in front of business trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. In today’s hyper-competitive environment, being current and up-to-date on the latest technologies is not enough. On the contrary, it is more important to “skate to where the puck is going”. With that, I am constantly scanning the external environment, networking, and researching the technology industry to stay ahead. To further my knowledge, I also co-founded a podcast (Roll With Enterprise) to deliver unique and non-biased technology reviews and trend analysis for IT leaders. Another unique role I play in organizations is bridging the communication divide between technology teams and business leaders. Everyone is busy in their own lanes, so it is not surprising that business leaders don’t speak the language of technology, and vice versa. I have a knack for using storytelling to make highly-technical conversations easy for business executives to understand. On the flip side, I use the same strategy to give technology professionals a clear understanding of business context, strategic rationale, and competitive pressures.In the end, my success as a technology leader hinges on my ability to both set and execute strategy. While most senior leaders can establish compelling strategies – making them real can be a challenge. Fortunately, I am also skilled at breaking down strategies into initiatives, project plans, and KPIs that align teams. In fact, this is the only way I have been able to deliver on complex business transformations, mergers/acquisitions, and team turnarounds.
