I’m on a mission to democratize connectivity and solve the connectivity divide. The Internet continues to be a great equalizer: providing remote and disadvantaged communities the same access to information enjoyed by those in the most privileged; revolutionizing industries at a rapid pace through the free flow of communication and services between individuals and organizations. However, realization of its full potential is limited by an increasing monopolization of connectivity, leaving many parts of our global community behind due to both inferior connectivity and lack of choice. I’m determined to change this; to bring choice for unlimited, affordable high-quality, high-speed access to everyone, replicating the success of the cloud and SaaS business model disruption in the telecoms world. Achieving democratization of connectivity requires new business models, technologies and operational approaches to empower new entrants and reinvigorate incumbents to challenge the status quo and provide the potential to achieve scale. My journey started at PCCW in the UK where we worked on building a number of disruptive service providers across several counties. This led me to join Clearwire, found Alpental Technologies (DFJ funded; Google acquired), be part of Google Fiber & Loon, lead Vivint’s internet business and most recently, form Aervivo, raising >$5M in capital to date, to support our mission.I am passionate about building and inspiring mission-driven teams to affect change. Several of my global, cross-functional teams have achieved the unimaginable as we architected, prototyped and launched innovative wireless and IoT systems and products into mass production in Asia and North America. At heart, I’m an engineer that relishes a challenge and being part of a team of disruptive builders. I use my hands-on experience across the complete product cycle from ideation to mass production, combined with my experience as an operator, to help my teams deliver enduring, world-class impact.
