As people move from work to retirement they also change from employer-based insurance to Medicare or to the Affordable Care Act Marketplace coverage (if under 65). This coverage is very different than they are used to and at my office, I take the time to go over the different choices they have with both Supplements and Advantage plans. To be clear there is no “best plan” or “best choice”. I have the CSA (Certified Senior Advisor) certification and am a certified volunteer with AMDA (American Medicare Disability Advocates). The information and knowledge learned by gaining these certifications have given me additional resources to be a strong advocate to help people understand their benefits and be confident that the options they choose are a good fit for their individual needs and concerns. I focus on helping people in Indiana (my office is in the northwest corner of the state) and parts of MI and IL that are close. I find value in meeting with people at my office or in their homes in that this is the best way to be assured they fully understand the options and choices made.
