Build Scrum Master - Managed the build team and lead creation and implementation of stories to improve our build process. During this time, I created many supplementary applications, visualizations, and reports to display the current status of our build system over time.Pervasive (now Actian) - Create DSL in velocity to produce dynamic jobs based on metadata. DSL compiled into JSON which was then packages and uploaded to the Pervasive server. Additionally, I was also responsible for being the primary SME and point of contact for any problems we discovered and registered with Pervasive.Logging - I was instrumental in re-architecting our logging system and process. Our system was inherited from another group and logging was generally hap-hazard throughout our code base. My task was to normalize the process of logging and ensure it was being being used in a uniform way throughout our system.

Help customers (tech employees and students) as they emailed or phoned in problems. Mainly, we were on-site support, so our job was to assertion the problem, document it, then go and fix it (followed by more documentation).Problems generally entailed computers being slow, irregular problems with Microsoft products, broken/complicated projector systems, login/locked out issues, and eRaider permission settings.We also managed all computer labs in the College of Engineering (4 labs and approximately 200 computers in total). Our job was mainly to maintain the master computer image and help push it out during the cloning process via Symantec Ghost.

I entered this job as the primary IT personnel for Mechanical Engineering. Over my stay I expanded my responsibilities to include the upgrade and management of the department's website as well as management of a Windows Server 2008 base file and license server.As IT personnel, I helped the professors and faculty with many day-to-day computer issues. I also was responsible for maintaining the computer lab and hosted software licenses via FlexLM.Soon after starting I was asked to improve the department's website and optimize it for search engines. This was a great learning experience, and the culminating achievement was when I finally managed to get a professor's profile as the first result in Google when searching for the professor's name along with "ttu".During my stay, I helped hire two and train two new personelle.I also helped in purchasing and setting up two servers. One was a dedicated server for the website, and the other was a Windows based file and license server.

My main responsibility in this position was to create a browser based front end connection to a large fisheries database. This was to be accomplished over the summer of 2006.I was responsible for uploading the data from previously recorded excel sheets into the database after ensuring integrity of the data. In the end, the database contained about five years of fisheries data collected three times a year in the Chesapeake Bay.The website presents users with a form to easily build a filter for only the data they wish to view. They are then presented with a preview of the data which they can drill down into to ensure it is what they want before downloading it. The download consisted of several .csv files which would be readily imported into Excel or Open Office Calc.There was also one expedition while I was there which I participated in. This involved going to pre-defined points in the Chesapeake Bay, dropping a net to the bottom to catch whatever was there. We would then count and record everything we caught (for anchovies we would count a bucket sample, then count how many buckets we caught since there were so many).
