About Mikel Howarth
In the last 7 years, I've had the privilege of collaborating with exceptional teams working on back-end and front-end solutions. I love accessibility, design systems, and mentorship, which I believe all form a web (pun intended) of inclusion and empathy that teams need to succeed.I have improved accessibility compliance by over 70% in multiple codebases, sharing results and documentation along the way. I also had the privilege of crafting 100+ components in React and Angular that improved the experience of millions of users.I'm familiar with both monorepo and microservice architectures, and have a strong grasp of navigating large code bases. I also enjoy more full-stack work including building RESTful API’s and data contracts between front-end and back-end systems.Mentorship and teaching has always been near to my heart. As a mentor at CodeDay Labs and Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind (CSDB), I was given the opportunity to share the joy of engineering with students from all backgrounds, and facilitate accredited development programs.I am also an avid costuming and prop builder, with a heavy lean towards Star Wars.
