Before PURE PHYSIQUE was the franchise where people transformed their bodies without calorie-counting, cardio or more than 90 minutes of exercise a week... I started out as an entry-level personal trainer at a small fitness studio, right after college. Though I spent only six months there the experience would be pivotal in shaping my career and the concept behind PURE PHYSIQUE.For the next few years I gym-hopped and toggled back-and-forth between being an employed and independent personal trainer.Eventually, I found myself at a hole-in-the-wall where over 3 ½ years I grew a nice little business for myself before opening a 950 sq ft personal training studio. I remember the landlord saying he wasn't sure “this type of business” would last--but he gave me the lease anyway. A few years later I married my wife Corrie-Beth and on our honeymoon we came up with a business plan that would allow her to leave her teaching job and join me as co-owner. Because that’s what everyone does on their honeymoon, right!? And so...- We added another 900 sq ft. to our existing space in the first 2 years.- We took over another storefront a few years later.- We bought a personal training certification company.- We went from a 1:1 training studio to developing the first Group Resistance Training program of its kind.- Awarded ‘Best Workout’ and ‘Best Personal Trainer’ in Westchester. (Without ever giving more than a 30 minute workout.)- We became a national franchise...- Opened a couple of franchise locations. - And was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s ‘Hottest Fitness Franchises to Own’. Who would’ve thought!? An errant college student with a 2.3 GPA turns fitness entrepreneur! But no one does these things alone.First and foremost, God gets all the glory. And after that, Corrie-Beth and I have surrounded ourselves with a hard-working, talented, inspiring, mission-driven team. A team that is savvy, intelligent, passionate and nurturing in spirit.The PURE PHYSIQUE story is just beginning...
