Senior Software Engineer
Houston, Texas, Us
In Oslo I worked on a huge, multi-year development program for the next generation marine seismic acquisition system for Schlumberger Westerngeco. As a senior software engineer on a 7 person embedded software team, my focus was on producing embedded software to route real time acquisition data towards an acquisition vessel. I worked on a diverse range of hardware including 8051 micro controllers, 24-bit DSP's, ARM and PowerPC microcontrollers and with a multitude of development environments. During my time in Oslo I introduced the team to test driven development, build automation and continuous integration, and continuous deployment to hardware in the loop test systems.* Developed high quality embedded C and C++ software for real-time acquisition* Developed a strong technical skillset in Test Driven Development for embedded software* Gained experience in creating software on bare-metal, FreeRTOS, and embedded Linux platformsTechnical details:New Product Development for Marine Seismic Acquisition Systems. Working as part of a team on next generation embedded systems. Technologies include C, C++, embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, custom schedulers and custom protocol definitions for a diverse range of hardware targets such as PowerPC, 8051 uC, 24-bit Coolflux DSP, and ARM Cortex M3.I introduced a lot of modern agile software practices in embedded software engineering such as Test-Driven Development, Automated Builds, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment with Hardware-In-The-Loop test systems, and Pair Programming.I was active in Knowledge Management and Technical Leadership activities. Organized Lunch `n' Learns and cross-site webinars on software testing and embedded software. Participated in software métier manager advisory boards for software testing and embedded software. Author of several articles and speaker at internal software seminars.I was also local site champion for internal build and configuration management systems.
