Establish contact, and develop supportiverelationship with the designated Reserve Component units. Serve as the primarylink between the RC and ESGR and assist their assigned commands or units in thedevelopment and execution of employer relations program. Provide an ESGR briefing to the assembled unit members. Briefing include MLR responsibilities, USERRA,Ombudsman’s role, ESGR awards, and available services. Assist unit commander in awards presentations.

The mission for Writing My Way Back Home is to conduct writing workshops and projects for United States veterans, providing them space and time to write about their wartime experiences in order to heal, to be heard, and create meaningful expression. By using writing exercises to explore wartime experiences--the fear, the boredom, anxieties, thrills, brutality and tears--the vet learns how to write a story and make it compelling. Workshop participants will explore the many approaches available to writing about their experiences via nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and plays by the end of the workshop. Opportunities to read each other's work (both as a class workshop and one-on-one with professional writers) as well as a two-week online follow up, will help continue the writing and revision process. No writing experience is needed to attend this workshop.

The State Rehabilitation Council (SRC), with members appointed by the Governor, provides advice and direction to the Department of Education's Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) on the quality and effectiveness of programs and services. The Council's goal is to seek and improve the quality of employment outcomes and community participation

Vision: Through the work of the Veterans Knowledge Community, Student Affairs professionals will take a leadership role increasing awareness of veteran specific issues in higher education. Through the work of the KC, campuses will create an infrastructure that not only brings veterans in but also moves them through, and gives them the support necessary for degree attainment and future success. Mission: The Veterans Knowledge Community will advance Veterans Best practices through the education and activation of its members. Commitment:Members will communicate at local, regional and national NASPA meetings and at other veteran meetings as time allows (Department of Veteran Affairs, IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, AHEAD). Technology will also be utilized to connect members and provide opportunities to share information.

Work to enhance the educational experience of veteran non-traditional students in higher education by empowering and supporting nontrad student veteran individuals and groups at member institutions. The first point of contact for veteran members, provide timely and up to date information as it applies to veterans and the ANTSHE mission of support. Connect students groups with resources, advocate on behalf of nontrad student veterans at the state and national level.

NAMI, the acronym for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s leading grassroots, self help, education, support and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMI Johnson County serves the communities of Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and all of Johnson County. Educational programs and classes provide information about illnesses, symptoms, treatment options, and available services for those living with a mental illness, as well as for those with whom they live and work. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, support and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all those in need. Also serve as the State Veterans Representative to the National Military and Veterans Council

Promote, support, and deliver meaningful education within all branches of the Armed Services and for veterans or their eligible dependents encouraging educational institutions to be innovative and flexible in meeting their educational needs. Provide a forum for the discussion of current issues and planning for future programming. Review the concerns and problems brought before the Council and make recommendations to the appropriate agency or entity. Encourage cooperative and coordinated efforts leading to improved functioning of the Council and more efficient and effective educational services for Armed Services personnel and their family members. Recognize the achievements of those persons and organizations that have contributed to the advancement of educational opportunities. Collaborate with military and college educators and other professional organizations associated with academic and vocational education.

We are a diverse group of people, many of which are veterans and educators who are all about helping veterans! We have more than 100 years of experience in education and at helping veterans seek an education. Our founders started this new organization after having first-hand issues dealing with the problems veterans face in college. MISSION: Operation Homefront (OH) provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. VISION: Through generous, widespread public support and a collaborative team of exceptional staff and volunteers, we aspire to become the provider of choice for emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Where there is a need we do not provide, we will partner with others for the benefit of our military families.

Responsible for supervising the successful accomplishment of the Commander's mobilization readiness objectives. Anticipates and recommends solutions to needs of the unit in all aspects of unit readiness. The Readiness NCO will be involved in the day to day supervision of training management, mobilization planning, supply, maintenance, pay and personnel functions relating to the welfare of the Soldiers and mission capability. Acts as the commander's day to day representative and spokesman in the daily operations of the unit and to ensure the highest readiness status of the unit.
