Profile bio

About Mike Marza

I love telling stories. It’s a passion I discovered at 6 years old. We didn’t have a ton of money growing up. But my parents would rent a VHS camcorder twice a year. Dad shot my first ever walk-and-talk stand ups! Now, I’ve taken on the same role for my three kids; 9, 7 and 4 years old! I’m a television news anchor and reporter for the #1 rated television station in the nation, WABC-TV in New York City! My teammates will tell you I’m a hands-on newsroom leader who plays well with all personalities. I love to write. I enjoy mentoring. I’m most comfortable during breaking news in a studio and on the streets. At WABC-TV, I’ve anchored every show in our lineup from mornings to nights, weekdays to weekends. I’ve helped lead viewers through hours of daily Covid-19 breaking news developments, an ambush on a police precinct and a horrific Hanukkah attack at a Rabbi’s house to list a few examples. I’ve reported from the pandemic epicenter of NYC and the BLM protests alongside George Floyd’s brother crossing the Brooklyn Bridge on live TV. I helped lead our coverage of the Harvey Weinstein Trial from inside the courtroom. I’ve reported live for hours in the middle of blizzards, floods and tornado zones. I even co-anchored evenings with my wife for four years... and we’re still married! 😁Throughout my career my bosses have trusted me to cover big moments; from hours of non-stop coverage of the Boston Bombing to NBA, MLB and NFL championship celebrations to somber memorials marking the 9/11 terror attacks. During my more than 20 years in television news, my peers have awarded me with Emmys for best anchor, reporting and breaking news. But my biggest honor is earning the trust of our loyal viewers!

Listed skills include Broadcast, Television, Journalism, Storytelling, and 21 others.
