With 50 years’ experience in the music industry my extensive skills include directing, producing, identifying musical talent, song writing, playing the drums and singing. I was educated at Wynberg Boys and graduated at UCT whilst starting my musical career.I formed the band McCully Workshop which is widely regarded as South Africa’s most successful group of the 70’s. In 1978 I wrote Buccaneer and Chinese Junkman, both of which reached no 1 on the charts. Buccaneer is considered one of the best songs ever produced in South Africa.In the early 90’s my agency Micmac Music was contracted to direct musicals for Artscape and I conceived and produced two of the most successful Cape Town musicals Station 70 and Sixtysomething.My strengths lie in my ability to identify and channel talent in the right direction. I have so far discovered and trained more than 75 artists of a previously disadvantaged background who have gone on to become successful in South Africa. Over the past 20 years my shows have also raised more than R8.5 million for various charities and fund-raising groups.Micmac Music has available Cape Town’s top artists and able to offer musicians for all types of functions.One example of a successful function is the “Milestones Show” which takes the client from the time of inception to present day, covering a wide range of age groups associated with the music of the time.
