In addition to monthly Professional Chapter meetings, where professional engineers in the community meet to present advancements in technology and various projects happening in the industry, the club also participates in guided tours of a variety of facilities in Anchorage and surrounding areas, paying particular attention to their HVAC design and implementation. As a means to put theory and book work to practice, the UAA Chapter has been working on an ice hockey table, putting an Alaskan flare on the popular game of air hockey. Currently in the late stages of design, the ice hockey table is built on a steel frame, where two 1/4 HP condensing units will make up the cooling system, aided by a custom designed evaporator loop, which will sit just below a copper sheet which contains the water/ice playing surface. This project will become a fun marketing device for the club and hopefully be a catalyst for increased membership and continued creativity! Show less
