Michael M. Salem has handled insurance coverage litigation matters in the areas of intellectual property, professional liability, toxic torts, construction defects, and clergy sexual abuse.Mr. Salem joined Nelsen Thompson Pegue & Thornton in 2007, and was briefly with the McGuireWoods LLP before rejoining Nelsen Thompson Pegue & Thornton in 2009. He previously served as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. Ellen Carroll in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District.Mr. Salem is a co-author of a chapter discussing insurance and indemnity in Food Safety Law published by Law Journal Press, which serves as a manual for insurance coverage matters as it relates to food safety and recalls. Mr. Salem also authored “The Danger of Expanding Coverage to Investment Advisors,” published in Mealey's Emerging Insurance Disputes and presented at ABA TIPS Meeting, Winter 2013. He recently published “Emerging issues in insurance for fracking and application of the EPLE endorsement,” which can be found in Westlaw Journal, Nov. 2013.A Santa Monica native, Mr. Salem obtained his J.D. from Loyola Marymount University, where he was a member of the Dean’s List and received First Honor’s in Trademark and Bankruptcy. He attained a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.Mr. Salem was admitted to the California State Bar in 2006 and is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of California. He is a member of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association (ABA).
