Following the roll out of the marketing technologies, I became the Head of Customer Engagement to focus on the people and processes using the new Adobe tools. This resulted in a restructure of the marketing team to deliver marketing through Agile methodology. Like most organisations, teams were previously organised by marketing channel or function. The Aviva retail marketing team now comprises of multi-disciplined teams each focused around different customer journeys. Teams have the skillset and authority to deploy marketing campaigns entirely within their team. The restructure was a significant undertaking, changing more than 100 roles across four locations. Since the restructure, marketing campaigns are conceived and deployed within hours, rather than weeks.

I joined Aviva in the global role of Head of Digital Marketing to lead the roll out of the Adobe Marketing Cloud and Adobe Advertising Cloud technologies. The Adobe tools now power Aviva’s digital and targeted marketing channels across paid search, paid social, display, email, SMS, direct mail, push notification and on-site personalisation. Adobe consider it one of the fastest, most complete implementations they have seen and Aviva are regularly cited as their reference use case, particularly within Financial Services. Benefits have been realised across all marketing channels including a 30% average open rate increase across all email campaigns and an average home page conversion increase of 200%.
