I am a software architect with 25+ years experience across a wide range of technologies from Hypervisors to Operating Systems to Networking and most recently Cloud Security.I started my career at Sun Microsystems where I worked on platform software, device drivers, processor bringup and debug as well as processor simulation and Hypervisor design and development. While at Juniper Networks, I was the lead architect designing and implementing the virtualized control plane for a massively distributed network fabric supporting 1000's of physical switching nodes, as well as the architect and lead developer of the core virtualization technology behind a network modeling cloud service called Junosphere. For the last 10 years, I have been at Cisco. Initially as part of the Chief Technology & Architecture Office, leading a team of 20+ engineers on the design and development of hybrid cloud orchestration and cloud native networking & security solutions. I was lead architect of Cisco’s NFV lifecycle manager product, Elastic Services Controller (http://tinyurl.com/ciscoESC), co-lead of the original design of Cisco’s managed cloud services platform, Cisco MSX (http://tinyurl.com/ciscoMSX) and co-lead of Cisco’s first product in the application workload security space, Cisco Secure Application (tinyurl.com/CIscoSecureApplication).Currently, I am the Chief Technology Officer for the Cloud Security Group where I lead the overall architecture strategy for Cisco’s Cloud Security portfolio. In this role I lead a team of architects and Distinguished Engineers, working with the engineering and product management teams to define the product strategy and roadmap to grow the Cloud Security business. This role involves gaining a deep understanding of the entire Cloud Security product portfolio, the architecture documentation (where they exist and creating them where they don't), product roadmaps, product strategy and the industry trends associated with each product. Then by digging deep into each engineering team, documenting the technical debt and other challenges with the products so as to be able to create a step-by-step strategy to move the products forward inline with the North Star Architecture that my team and I created.I work extensively across organizational boundaries to align architectures and products to ensure the best outcome for Cisco.
