I have more than 40 years’ experience in managing and consulting in various software engineering, information technology and construction roles in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. I have particular experience in the management of solution delivery services using geographically diverse teams, and the processes and methodologies necessary to enable such a team to deliver quality outcomes.In a dynamic industry, it is necessary to continually research and evaluate new technologies and strategies, and it is this ongoing challenge along with the interaction with diverse clients and partners that I find most appealing. I enjoy working with clients in tailoring solutions blending software development teams to add value to their businesses and form long term high-trust relationships. It ManagerModoras Financial Performance Solutions 2002 - 2005Upper Mount Gravatt, Queensland, AuI was responsible for the design of a highly secured Wealth Management System for FinancialLine (now Modoras), an Australia-wide Financial Planning and Management Practice. As well as defining the requirement and designing the system, I was then responsible from FinancialLine's side for the development of the system. This was undertaken by Mitrais over a 9 month period and added significantly to the productivity and expansion of the group.The system is still in service today, and Mitrais remains the partner responsible for continued development and maintenance of that system. -
Software Development ManagerPowerlan 2001 - 2002During this period, I was responsible to the Board for the day to day running of Powerlan’s Microsoft Development Team, headquartered in Brisbane. The team comprised 15 full-time and 5 contract developers developing both web-based and client-server applications. This included the financial performance of the Software Engineering division, including forward estimation, budgeting and performance reporting directly to the Powerlan Management Team (of which I was a member). I also helped to develop and implement Software Engineering Business Process incorporating complete Software Development Lifecycle with a view to maintaining Quality Assured (ISO 9000) status (externally audited and achieved). I had significant input to the project definition phase in particular, including solutions design, risk assessment (and mitigation/ management) strategies, project costing and technical architecture. I worked closely with the National Marketing Manager to develop business opportunities within large government and corporate clients.

Software Development ManagerAsia Online 2000 - 2001I was responsible to the Australian General Manager for the conduct of Asia Online’s primary Web Applications Development Unit, located in Queensland. I developed and implemented Business Process for Asia Online Applications Development nationally. This involved analysing their existing procedures, identifying critical breakdown points, and designing revised processes to address the project management and delivery issues that existed at that time. I worked closely with sales staff in a pre-sales role. This involved close liaison with client stakeholders to analyse and document their business requirements (across all business units and at all levels). I was required to manage Project conduct, including liaison with key stakeholders regarding scope management and successful achievement of time and fiscal budgets.
