The scripts are based on the Groovy programming language, and enhanced to pull data from sources external to LinkedIn. Maintained an administrative tool used to deploy those scripts, which was written in Scala on the Play! framework. Also enhanced and maintained the system used to run those scripts, written in Java, known as GaaP (Gateway as a Platform).Lead engineer in a team which developed a prototype used to scrape career opportunities from client websites and post them to LinkedIn using the GaaP system. Built a reactive Scala web application on the Play! framework to retrieve the fetched jobs from the GaaP system, perform post-processing with data from internal and external REST services, and post to the LinkedIn Jobs API. Used the Anorm Scala API to read and write to an Oracle database.Enhanced the GaaP HTTP Proxy, written in Java. Added monitoring via JMX and metrics for the amount of data transferred both inbound and outbound, per calling service and outbound domain. Worked with internal customer and security teams to define a plan for making the GaaP Proxy the outbound proxy for all services at LinkedIn.Modified client-facing JSPs and JavaScript on the LinkedIn site to reflect changes to the address-book import process as a result of introducing the GaaP platform. Wrote Selenium tests to demonstrate correctness.

Developed a data transfer mechanism from existing FactSet custom databases to HBase using C++, Perl, Java, ANTLR, and Map/Reduce.Managed a team of six engineers in the Quantitative Applications group to enhance and maintainFactSet's Alpha Testing, Portfolio Simulation, and Screen Iterator products, all written in C++. Worked with three Product Developers over two offices to prioritize both major projects and minor enhancements for those applications. Also initiated a side project to prototype a performance improvement of Alpha Testing via Map/Reduce on HBase. Designed the data layout, used ANTLR to translate a custom FactSet query language to Java code running on a Java server, connected to a C++ client via Thrift, and used Perl, Java, and Map/Reduce to convert and load the raw data into HBase.Designed, developed, launched, and enhanced PA Reconciliation, a C++ application designed to find and report discrepancies in client data. These reports are stored in a custom FactSet database, e-mailed as Excel spreadsheets overnight, and viewed in the FactSet Portfolio Viewer product. PA Reconciliation uses existing infrastructure to compute, store, and fetch the reports, displaying the results in a custom query and display language designed for business users. Also maintained and enhanced a C++ parser that collects financial trades directly from the Advent Axys / APX accounting system. The parser aggregates the data into a report for storage in custom databases for clients. Coded preprocessors for client transactions in Perl using basic string manipulation.
