I have worked as an IT lawyer for >30 years, both in-house at international IT companies and with major Australian law firms. In 2006 I established Gordian Lawyers which specialises in IT law, outsourcing, commercial property, government procurement and privacy, including GDPR. I am highly experienced in negotiating and drafting complex, high value (>$1BN TCV), multi-party deals. My clients tell me that they use my services because of my senior in-house Counsel experience provides a commercially practical industry best practice outcome. I am repeatedly able to demonstrate outcomes that improve the profitability of engagements whilst lowering the risk at the same time. My experience includes leading legal and contract management teams in global IT companies, including Oracle, Cognos and Accenture (Asia Pacific Lead lawyer for deals with a TCV of >USD 100m, Government and Contract Management) as well as a leading law firm in Australia. I also have run large IT departments and other back office functions, including property and facilities,contract management, procurement, travel and business process re-engineering whilst Director of Operations and Legal Services at Oracle.My clients include start-ups, large local and international companies (including some of the really big ones!), universities and government. I advise on managed services and outsourcing contacts, procurement, consulting contracts, software, AAS agreements, distribution agreements, disputes, contract management, commercial property leases, Australian privacy and GDPR.For the past 25 years I have been playing an active role in helping the Australian Information Industry Association, (the AIIA is the peak ICT industry association in Australia) shape and implement policies that promote the ICT industry, culminating in being elected/re-elected by AIIA members' CEOs as a Director between 2012 and 2018, and being elected/re-elected by my fellow Directors as Deputy Chair between 2016 and 2018.
