I've been running the Silicon Valley version of the Mobile Monday meetings for the last few years. We hold meetings free and open to the public on the first Monday of the month with topics relating to cellular mobile application development and services. We're working on application discovery for mobile devices. Currently available on iPhone. I do the backend server, scalability, operations, and metrics works.

This is the new venture. Working on some iPhone apps, not much to tell yet, but we're working on that every day now. We've decided to shut the effort down, we never got it into the state we wanted to.

Helping to make things work well. Better, faster, stronger - the general drill. Designing and implementing large software systems to work for lots of users and respond quickly all the time.

Mowser lets you view the Web on your mobile phone. Mowser mobilizes the web by taking HTML pages normally viewed on a computer and translating them so they work on your mobile phone.

Doing the engineering, writing code - also designing new services, from product specification through release, doing operations, keeping the servers running, getting new servers, network buildout, new colo startup, service monitoring and building out the engineering and operations team.

I've started doing some independent consulting and contracting: application design and achitecture, mobile product development, handsets and devices, Linux, J2ME, Palm, XHTML, messaging, web development.

I've been working on a bunch of different projects at Ning, all related to the site in some way (ops, monitoring, developing applications, working on the code that runs the site, etc)

This is my own consulting company, just me at this point. I do work with startup and early stage companies looking to develop new products and services. I've got quite a broad base of experience, I work very well in the startup environment where everyone has to do a little bit of everything, and I've got much better communication skills than your average computer geek. I've also developed some commercial Palm based software under the Bitsplitter label, and released some open source.

Feedster is a syndication search company, providing access to XML content from a huge number of sources. My role involved defining and implementing the FeedsterMedia advertising program.

Worked on the embedded Linux based network appliance they use for home monitoring and automation, Linux kernel work and hardware debugging/interfacing, system software, network applications, software architecting, server setup, security

Worked to put in place security policy, firewall/IDS/VPN/cryptography installation and maintenance, integration of new offices, setup of new facilities, incident response, network monitoring, managed a small team of consultants.

Worked on an embedded Linux based digital video recorder and remote display unit for commercial security applications, architected the solution, project management, programming, database work, sales, and customer support
