Control Engineer / St. Louis Branch Area ManagerThe Aarell Company Oct 2013 - Jan 2015Troy, Michigan, UsGreenfield VA hospital energy plant with three 35,000 pounds per hour boilers, two boiler feed-water pumps, two condensate transfer pumps, and associated tanks. Each boiler had its own control panel with a hard-wired Fireye Burner Management System , a Combustion Control, ControlLogic PLC.and a PanelView interface. A separate Plant Master control panel with a ControlLogic PLC controlled the shared equipment - boiler feed water pumps and feed water tank, condensate pumps and condensate tankExisting GM assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas, with five 60,000-pounds-per-hour boilers, six boiler-feed water pumps, six condensate transfer pumps, and associated tanks. One boiler control was not retrofitted..Each boiler was controlled by a Honeywell computer combustion controller in one control panel and an Allen-Bradley burner control PLC in a second control panel. A new burner management ControllLogic PLC and an new combustion control CompactLogic PLC were installed in the existing control panels. Each combustion boiler panel included a new operator interface PanelView. A Plant Master control panel with a Honeywell DCS computer controlled the shared equipment - boiler feed water pumps and feed water tank, condensate pumps and condensate tank. Because this equipment was shared by all of the boilers the change over to the PLC control was done during the summer plant-wide shutdown. The work included coordination with owner's construction manager, construction supervision, IO checkout, safety testing and documentation update, -
