Neighbors Allied for Good Growth (formerly Neighbors Against Garbage) developed out of our neighborhood’s desire to recapture its waterfront, reduce local environmental hazards, and advocate for public policies promoting healthy mixed-use communities. We advocate with and for the people who live and work in the North Brooklyn neighborhoods of Greenpoint and Williamsburg. Our approach to these issues is guided by the principle that our entire community is entitled to participate in decision-making and negotiation processes affecting our neighborhood, leadership of local mobilization efforts, and the design of a future vision for our community.

We are a group of organized community leaders and residents working to improve McGolrick Park and our neighborhood. The McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance (MPNA) is a diverse group consisting of lifelong residents of the community, new residents, parents of small children, senior citizens, community activists, and representatives of religious institutions and businesses. Our vision is to be an inclusive, equity-aware, focused, vocal, fundraising advocate for a safer and ultimately better park and surrounding area for all New Yorkers to enjoy.

Coordinated national campaigns to phase out toxic chemicals and materials such as PVC/vinyl plastic, phthalates, and bisphenol A (BPA) in products and packaging.The Center for Health, Environment & Justice helps build healthy communities nationwide. Since its founding in 1981, CHEJ has grown into the nation’s leading resource for grassroots environmental activism, a ground-breaking, progressive organization with a vision for clean, green neighborhoods built from hard-won experience fighting for environmental justice.CHEJ was started by Lois Gibbs after she led the historic fight to relocate more than 800 of her neighbors away from toxic waste in the Love Canal neighborhood of Niagara Falls, NY. For the past 35 years, we have trained and supported local activists across the country and been a part of and led national campaigns to improve our environment.

Buffalo/Niagara, New York Area

Directed the Buffalo office of a statewide environmental health organization. Worked on campaigns around Superfund sites, incinerators, chemical plants, and persistent bioaccumulative toxic (PBT) chemicals.
