We successfully brought to market a range of products and solutions for NAM, EMEA, and APAC, representing a portfolio of high-quality smart metering devices across the Electricity, Gas, and Water sectors.My responsibilities encompassed maintaining our current market position while building and guiding a talented team towards creating the next generation of global smart metrology for all utility segments. By introducing innovative value to our customers, we unveiled products that facilitated consumer sustainability and contributed to growth in conservation efforts. This assignment managed the global R&D leadership for both Itron’s industry leading AMR/AMI product line as well as owning engineering for the complete Gas measurement portfolio. To deliver a globally significant portfolio, we brought together geographically dispersed teams from France, Germany, Great Britain, India, and the United States to focus on a common mission of quality improvement, updates, and delivering new and innovative products. Bringing new teams together created a collaborative environment to launch new strategic platforms. In gas measurement, this included the introduction of Itron’s first static residential gas meter. For systems and solutions, we delivered targeted Analytics to our AMI customers to create early Smart Grid capability. We also expanded Itron’s market leading North American ChoiceConnect AMI system to broader relevance with the global introduction of ChoiceConnect Prepay, ChoiceConnect Mobile, ChoiceConnect Cell, and ChoiceConnect Network.• Oversaw global R&D for Itron’s Choice Connect AMI smart grid system and Itron’s Global Gas Measurement portfolio, with an approximate $700M annual revenue stream.• Executive leadership for a team of over 300 engineers and a budget of $45MM. • Deployed a dedicated team that was awarded a nation-wide account by providing customer with a viable, feasible, and verified system concept.• Integrated geographically dispersed R&D teams in France, Germany, Great Britain, India, and the United States, recognized for a culture of collaboration and results-based outcomes.• Introduced global Program Management and Obeya disciplines into the development of solution offerings.• Invoked consultant expertise to accelerate quality objectives, tools to achieve objectives, and measurements to monitor progress.

As a Sr. Director of R&D at Itron, I managed engineering for Itron's North American Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solutions for Electric, Gas, and Water utilities known as ChoiceConnect (Electric, Gas, Water) and SaveSource (Water). These solutions were among the first to introduce advanced functionality such as two-way command and control, time synchronized data logging, and WAN communications flexibility to the early Smart Grid market. We focused on developing innovative technologies to supply the requested advanced features of utility customers and on delivering solutions that were scalable and cost effective throughout the full life cycle of the product. Our team was multi-dimensional, covering Systems Engineering, Hardware Development, Software Development, and local Network Site Design.• Brought to market products that led to over $2B of lifetime revenue exceeding 50% margin• Provided technical executive leadership of solutions serving the North American Gas, Water, and Electric AMR/AMI utility markets.• Authored and presented technical papers for sales and competitive market positioning• Led the corporate portfolio convergence initiative.
