• I was responsible for the network architecture of the Service Delivery Platform (SDP) used by Spark Digital (formerly Gen-i) to deliver “cloud” services to their customers. Some key achievements:
• Integration of the SDP WAN edge with the Spark core MPLS network reducing resource utilisation on the MPLS core.
• Working with Cisco to deploy a Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) implementation, right sized for the New Zealand market.
• Migrating from a checkpoint firewall with a single rule set to a Cisco ASA solution with a context per customer providing secure isolation of customer traffic.In addition I was also been responsible for the network.
• Proof of concept to enable customers to access their datacentre resources using a virtualised CPE to reduce lead times and provide a platform for future network services.
• Designing a cloud based security solution to meet the requirements of a Government RFP.

• I was contracted by EMS to provide design and build services for a project at Telecom (now Spark) to build a secure Internet service called Trusted Online Environment, later renamed Safecom (now known as SDP).As well.
• A web based administration portal, which became branded as EMS-Cortex.
• A web based network management dashboard and a number of scripts to instrument various infrastructure devices.

I was responsible for the design and maintenance of all aspects of IT solutions for mostly small to medium businesses. This included network (access switching and Internet connectivity), server (Compaq and HP) and application (Microsoft AD and Microsoft Exchange).One project was the planning phase of a major infrastructure upgrade for the New Zealand.
