My passion is to improve education and engage educators to be lifelong learners. We need to continually reflect and improve teaching, learning and leadership practices and not just settle for "good"​. I am a firm believer we must be risk-takers and have creative mindsets. Just because something has "worked" for twenty years, does not mean it is what is best for students today. A strong relationship with teachers, students, parents/guardians, Indigenous Nations, and community members is vital in a high-functioning system.We must address the historical equity gap and racism that still exists in our education system. The calls to action are clear on a pathway that all of us must embrace with action. As the Honorable Murray Sinclair commented, "Reconciliation is not an Indigenous problem, it is for all of Canada...it is about our responsibility for the future".As a leader, I model a commitment to building positive cultures based on collaboration and trust, with a focus on each student through high-quality leaders, educators and support staff. We need to create an environment that nurtures inquiry and continual growth.
