I create and maintain landing pages, widgets, and other components for the Marketing Department. Pages I create help support our online advertising team in their goals to help more people enroll at WGU and to get and affordable education. I do QA on our pages and cross-browser test in order to maintain quality and achieve optimal conversion rates for ad campaigns.In addition to web development, I help identify opportunities for WGU and our marketing team to innovate and to realize the vision of the university. This includes: website optimization, conversion testing, and market research and a thorough exploratory process. Some of the languages/tools I utilize are: HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, and Drupal.

I enlisted in the United States Army where my area of specialty was field artillery. While at basic training I was not only a top performer, but also received top marks in hand-to-hand combat, expert grenade qualification, and sharpshooter qualification for rifle marksmanship.I was entrusted with many difficult, high-precision jobs while serving in my unit. The “Army Values” practiced in the military such as: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage have had not only a profound effect on my personal life, but also, on my professional career. I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom for one year as a military policeman performing “Detainee Operations.” The skills learned while serving in a war zone have prepared and refined me to be able to handle tough situations with composure and decisiveness. After an 8-year commitment to my country, I retired from the military with an “Honorable Discharge” and several awards for high performance and excellence.

During my time at S&L Landscaping I worked as a laborer/Pipe fitter. I also operated heavy machinery. My responsibilities were to maintain quality control and to work with precision. I was responsible for high precision grade work and pipe fitting.

Full-time volunteer as a missionary for two years. Served in various leadership positions and learned the Portuguese language fluently. Developed the management skills needed to train, motivate, and instruct many other volunteers. Used excellent organizational skills to organize each area I served in. This allowed us to work in the most efficient manner possible. The most important skill I learned was how to serve. Service has become an integral part of my life and it is a benefit to any company, community, or organization.
