Worked independently spatially analyzing remotely sensed burn severity imagery to select sampling sites for the summer field season and manage data sets in Access and Excel databases. During the field season I worked with/ and lead a team sampling vegetation in burn areas, calculating a composite burn index (CBI), and using a dichotomous key to identify plants to species. Coordinate helicopter and plane transportation for the crew from sampling areas and supervised data collection and managed a large budget for fuel.Developed and Taught ArcPad and Terrasync databases to use with Trimble Recon GPS to locate, mark sample sites, and collect field data.
Seeds Of Success Team Member
Identified viable populations of native plant species to send to the Kew Botanical Gardens in London England as part of the Seeds of Success Project. Scouted locations of specific native plant species and determined their viability by assessing the development of their seeds. After a population was determined viable they were marked with a GPS unit and seeds were sustainably harvested. Recorded daily growth of native grasses for the Eastern Sierra Sagebrush Steppe Native Seed Project in conjunction with University of California.
