About Mike Stenzler

When I was a kid, I used to open up watches to see how they worked. Now I put together code to create web applications. I have extensive backend web development experience and have worked on high traffic sites like VH1.com and MTV.com. What I love about programming and web development in particular is that it gives you the ability to create something meaningful using just your mind. When I moved into a new town and found it difficult to meet new people, I decided to create a web site that enabled local residents to meet each other at events. Many people found life long friends and even spouses through these events. The possibilities to create life altering applications is what drives me to continue to learn the latest web development technologies.

    Led the group as we set up the VH1.com site for the First VH1 live Music Awards show where all the winners where chosen by the users via voting on-line for the first time.Built a customized in-house mass email system (as a multithreaded Java server) to replace a 3rd party vender solution used by many MTVi properties (such as MTV.com, VH1.com, Nick.com, BET.com...). This mass email system more effectively managed their email marketing campaigns while saving the company $2+ million annually.Implemented a generic Javascript library to include Yahoo ads that enabled the MTVi properties to easily incorporate Yahoo ads into their sites.Oversaw the development of the message board system (using Java Dynamo server and Sybase) that was used by many of the MTVi properties including MTV.com, VH1.com, and nick.com. Engineered the user message center system for MTV.com using Java and Sybase that allowed users to send and receive messages via the web site enabling them to easily communicate with other members of the site.
