CurrentHazel Park Raceway is a thoroughbred horse race track in the greater Detroit area. At Hazel Park Raceway I serve as Assistant Director of Race Track Operations. As Assistant Director of Race Track Operations I oversee and manage all aspects of the business and all department managers. Hazel Park Raceway consists of three core business operations; live racing, simulcast and food service. Although specific dates change from year-to-year, we conduct live racing (horses actually racing at our track) from May through early September, simulcasting all-year-round (where customers can view and wager on race track across North America) and food service which ranges from multiple concession stands, bars and a full dining room during live racing season to a bar/grill during the off season. Having come from an advertising/marketing background I am heavily involved in the development and management of our overall marketing plan as well as managing the customer experience here at the race track. Horse racing can no longer be viewed as simply a gaming experience and we need to provide an exciting and fun experience for our customers. You can gamble at any gas station or 7/11 these days so we strive to provide a unique customer experience which revolves around horses and the excitement of horse racing.
