Profile bio

About Michael Sundheim

I have the privilege of shaping the narrative for one of the most exciting franchises in the NHL. Whether it’s managing the high-profile rebranding of PNC Arena to Lenovo Center in 2024 or serving as the primary point-of-contact for national media outlets, every day presents new opportunities to elevate the Hurricanes’ story. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of being part of pivotal moments in the team’s history, from launching the Hurricanes’ digital and social media presence to steering us through the NHL Stadium Series in 2023. Our communications strategies—from digital pivots to new media engagements—have been pioneering in the NHL and beyond, setting standards that many have since adopted. The Hurricanes’ rise from a new team to a beloved institution is a story I’ve been honored to help tell, and I’m excited for what’s next in this evolving journey. Outside the world of hockey—or even sports in general—I bring the ability to adapt to any circumstance with agility. In many ways, any given day in sports can be an exercise in crisis communication. A major injury or diagnosis for a player, a trade, the resignation of a President or GM, and the firing of a coach are all events that occur suddenly and need to be navigated with care and skill. Ours is a competitive and fast-paced industry, where we may have hours instead of months to prepare for major announcements, where we adapt new technology developments overnight to reach customers in effective ways, and where we learn to wear many hats to achieve our goals as a team.

Listed skills include Aviation, Airports, Flights, Aerospace, and 52 others.
