November 2018, I transitioned from a Technical Services Manager position where I supported a great group of 11 building-level technicians to a Network Specialist. My duties included managing VMware vSphere with over 100 virtual servers, VMware Horizon, and VMware AppVolumes. As part of VMware Horizon, I manage nine host servers hosting 200+ VDI virtual machines for student and staff use. Student use was mainly for Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Autodesk Suite as part of Project Lead The Way courses taught at the middle and high school levels. I also managed Cisco wired and wireless equipment. I also helped manage FortiGate firewalls, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and a number of other services, including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, WSUS, and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) which I've been working with for 10+ years. I also created a standardized list of network related equipment (switches, UPS units, patch cables, SFPs, etc) that are referenced by all contractors when a building project is started. I also met with contractors/subcontractors to discuss any current or future building construction project questions that may arise. I have experience using an OTDR and scope to better utilize fiber infrastructure within the schools. We were able to transition from redundant 1Gb fiber ring connections between the schools and our main Network Operations Center to redundant 10Gb connections as well as redundant 10Gb fiber connections from each network closet to the MDF core switch at each school, for any closets utilizing two or more network switches. I enjoy helping/teaching others on things they are interested in learning and help out when/where I can. I am constantly trying to learn new things. I also try to document as many procedural processes as possible for my role, especially if it's something I don't work with all the time. September, 2022, I became a Senior Network Administrator for the Allen County Public Library system. Within my first month, I was involved in migrating from on-prem Exchange to Microsoft 365 while trying to better understand the network as a whole and plan how to best upgrade and add better security. In August, 2023, I was promoted to Network Systems Manager, which largely involves the same things I was doing before, but with a few added responsibilities, including tenant migration.Specialties: VMware vSphere/ESXi, VMware Horizon, VMware AppVolumes, OS Image creation and rollout, VBScript, Microsoft 365.
